A week at a time

Kenzi is half way done her chemo treatments before she has surgery (the Lord willing). Don't get too excited, she has even more chemo after surgery, but we are thankful for progress being made. She did well after her last treatment and had way less jaw pain this time around, which is an answer to our prayers. Our doctor said she can hear more breath sounds on the left side, which is amazing news! They expect that it will take longer for her blood counts to recover as we go, because her bone marrow won't be able to bounce back as quickly with each round. She receives a shot in her leg each day between treatments to help with that. I'm sure many of you have seen the "Love is in the hair" campaign that some of our family members have been doing; this is one of the medications they are raising money for. There are some programs that help cover that costs, but even with that help it adds up quickly, so a huge thank you to all of you who have donated to that and to our friends and family who are participating! If you want to add some colour to your hair as a show of support, please don't hesitate; we would LOVE to see it! 😍 We are currently spending a few days together at the apartment, so we are taking full advantage and have even dyed all the kids hair to join in the fun! Ayden even decided she wanted to cut and donate her hair, so we did that as well. I will have to call the hairdresser to straighten it when we get back home though...

This Thursday Kenzi is scheduled to have a minor surgical procedure to remove the PICC line from her arm and put a central line into her chest now that her heart is closer to where it should be. Central lines are a little less finicky than the PICC line and we will be able to do the dressing changes ourselves. This will only happen if her blood counts are up, which she will get blood work tomorrow to check for. If all is well she will be admitted for the central line on Thursday and start with round 4 of chemo on Friday, so please be praying that her numbers are up. If they aren't, she will most likely be admitted on Sunday and have the procedure done on Monday, which bumps back our timeline a couple days.

We are taking it a week at a time, instead of a day at a time, which feels like a huge step from when we started.  We are thankful for time spent together and for Kenzi having minimal side effects. We are also thankful for the army of people that are supporting us and holding us up in prayer.❤ You have honestly made this so much easier and removed a lot of the extra stress that comes with this whole situation. So thank you from all of us!

Wait for the Lord; be strong and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!" ~ Psalm 27:14
